Continuing his emphasis on using the internet and video as part of his campaign, Boris was keen to mark the start of the election campaign period with a new online dialogue with the electorate. A Campaign Spokesperson said: “Boris is the only candidate offering truly fresh ideas and the internet is the perfect way to reach the many voters who are keen for change in London. We wanted to mark the start of the official campaign period with an innovative approach that reflects the way people access information.”

Working with Friction.tv adds an extra dimension to our campaign enabling interactive debate that engages people around the key issues facing Londoners. Boris is not afraid to discuss these issues and Friction.tv is a perfect platform for this.” Omer Shaikh, CEO of Friction.tv commented: “Political debate is at the heartland of our site and we are delighted to work with the Back Boris campaign team as part of our coverage of the London Mayoral elections.”

Set up a year ago, Friction.tv has been described as ‘Speakers Corner Online’, enabling anyone to debate issues and speak their mind without censorship or editing. The site allows users to upload their own ‘viewpoint’ videos as well as respond by video to those already on the site. Politically neutral and independently owned, debates on Friction.tv range from current affairs, environment, sport and gossip.
